No country around the globe has achieved gender equality, but some countries are better than others to be a woman.
The World Economic Forum Global Gender Gap Index benchmarks 153 countries on their progress towards gender parity in four dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival and Political Empowerment. The latest data show that Iceland is the best country to be a woman in 2020, while Yemen fares the worst.
The top country for gender parity remained Iceland (for the 11th year running).
Of the top 10 countries ranked, seven are European countries. This reflects the regional trend. By region, Western Europe has made the most progress on gender parity, followed by North America, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and the Middle East and North Africa.
